Some people might remember a species I have that I am quite fond of; Eksekutioners. I've been meaning to 'resurrect' them and hopefully give them more meaning instead of random species woo. xD
Eksekutioners or Ekseks as many call them, are canine-like creatures with glowing 'sensory pods' that act as secondary eyes. Along with the pods, their eyes and mouth also glow.
They are known for their long thin tails with hypodermic needles on the end. Inside these needles are poisons; most have a simple paralysing poison while others have different poisons, like frenzy-inducing poison, 'fire' poisons (that burn the victim from the insides out) and others. Also on their tails are 3 'pouches' used to store poison for later.
Ekseks eat whatever they can get their hands on, though they can also feed off the 'essence' a poisoned victim gives off while dying.
Eksekutioners are indeed sentient, and there are rumors of Ekseks somehow gaining a more humanoid form. It is unsure how they do this quite yet, but there have been some guesses of living to a certain age, or consuming a certain essence.
The amount of pups an Eksekutioner has depends on its type.
In older times; many villages saw Ekseks as a sign of death and they were very much feared. In some places they were known as 'Death's Hunting Dogs'. Others even saw them as demons! Nowadays they still have fear attached to them, even if not many believe the old stories anymore.

A couple questions, ;w; I held off on asking these till I actually had an Eksek of my own... but maybe I should have asked them a little at a time...
1.) Do ekseks have teeth of any kind?
2.) You mentioned they can gain a human form, is that a permanent or on-off thing?
3.) Do their ears rotate?
4.) How are they at getting along with individuals of other species?
5.) Sentient means able to think and reason (Parrots, Apes, Dolphins are all this), while Sapient means able to think beyond the physical realm (meaning thoughts of theology or about the future or past, Only humans, and to a small degree, Elephants are known to do this). Are Ekseks sentient or sapient?
6.) Do they have a natural instinct, like naturally shying away from other creatures, or can they have a wide range of personalities?
7.) Do you mind me bringing this into my IZ fandom stories? Some species creators want their species in their own worlds and I totally respect that.
;w; sorry to bombard you with questions... I like to know as much as I can about the species I have. Blame the Zoologist in me.
